Non-Profit Web Design for Tricia’s Troops
Tricia’s Troops Cancer Connection is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance, service coordination and supportive care to cancer patients throughout the Milwaukee area and southeast Wisconsin. The non-profit has grown, impacting nearly 500 cancer fighters and providing more than $75,000 in financial assistance annually. To continue furthering their work, reaching even more cancer fighters and inspiring more people to join their cause, they wanted a professional website.
We more than thrilled to be able to join them in their cause and provide them with a custom website for their non-profit. We have previous experience designing websites for non-profits and charity organizations. One of the common challenges they face is targeting both people who need their services and people who want to help with the same website.
With Tricia’s Troops, we opted for a very direct, user-friendly approach with large links directly below the banner image that split the audience between “Get Help” and “Get Involved.” Visitors can easily navigate to the information they need or continue scrolling for more general information about the non-profit. Further down we once again offered links for getting help and getting involved, so visitors would still easily be able to get the information they needed easily without having to backtrack.
For the design of the website, we married the light purple, a universal color representative of all cancers, from their logo with a serene blue, breathtaking images of nature and comforting photos of people supporting, smiling and persevering. We left the background white to provide lots of clean space and room to breathe. Donate buttons were placed at the top and bottom of the page, so they would be easy to locate, but not intrusive.
