Rebranding Web Design for The Biophilic Design Institute

Nicole Craanen is the owner of The Biophilic Design Institute, formerly Rooted in Nature. She began offering a professional certification program and decided to rebrand her business to focus more on that and biophilic design. With the rebrand, came an entirely new website, which Matt Gerber Designs was thrilled to be a part of.

Being that this was a website for a design institute, it’s only natural that the design of the website was very important. We carried over certain elements from the previous branding, including the logo and color scheme, to create a sense of continuity throughout the rebrand. The challenging part, however, was balancing the design with the content. In a relatively content heavy website, we were able to still have the focus be on the design by utilizing a larger than normal banner video with very subtle movement.

We continued to work design elements into the rebranding website by using detailed images and background designs. This was contrasted with white space to further balance the design and draw the visitor deeper into the site. To break up the content even more we added carefully placed contact buttons throughout each page, providing multiple opportunities for visitors to connect with Nicole and to help her capture as many leads as possible.
