Custom Nonprofit Web Design for AFJHAR

American Friends of Journey House Actions Rwanda, or AFJHAR, is nonprofit organization that supports and funds education, women’s empowerment, workforce development, and health improvement programs in rural Rwanda. Most donations for charities and nonprofits these days are submitted online and AFJHAR realized that in order to continue to be a driving force for a healthy, inclusive, self-reliant and economically sustainable communities in rural Rwanda, they needed to update their website.

AFJHAR is based out of nearby Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and we were thrilled when they selected us as the design and develop company for their new custom website. As a charitable, nonprofit organization, it’s fair to say AFJHAR was working with a limited budget. This led us to design a relatively simple, but functional custom WordPress website for them.

The main purpose of the website was to collect donations. WordPress made it easy to integrate a custom donation form that could safely and securely process monetary donations by credit card, eCheck (ACH) or PayPal. We utilized colors from their logo, adding a contrasting color for the many strategically placed “Donate Now” buttons. To aid in collecting donations, the website also needed educate people about their cause. But explaining what they do and how is no simple task. This created a lot of copy that needed to be laid out in a limited number of pages to stay within their budget. Our design team did an excellent job breaking up the text into easy-to-read sections with photos, headings and color blocks.
